Immature Stages of Psychidae

Detailed information on immature stages of Psychidae is being acquired.  However, Clausen (1940) noted that Plank & Cressman (1934) observed extensive feeding by the larvae of Platoeceticus gloverii Pack. On camphor scale, Pseudaonidia duplex Ckll., in Louisiana.  This species is normally a plant feeder, but in 1932 it was believed that well over 90% of scales in a heavy infestation on camphor were destroyed by it.  This kind of feeding took place mostly during the winter.  Larvae feeding on scales usually removed the dorsal coverings completely and incorporated them into the larval case.
